The first-ever Chevrolet Silverado electric is on the horizon, and the American automaker has already revealed some impressive data about the truck.

Find out more about its claimed power and capacities, as well as the advanced technologies that will boost your onboard experience.

Silverado EV: Power with a Difference

The Silverado EV will be based on an all-new platform designed to expand the scope of possibilities: the Ultium platform. It also brings increased power and strength, as confirmed by the numbers so far.

In fact, the first model to be released in 2024 will develop no less than 660 horsepower and 780 lb-ft of torque! Even more impressive, the Silverado giant will be able to go from 0-100 km/h in only 4 seconds. This will be possible with this first top-of-the-line version, named RST First Edition. As for the WT version, scheduled for 2025, it will have 510 horsepower and 615 lb-ft of torque.

Chevrolet Canada is also announcing the presence of four-wheel steering, which will allow the vehicle to get off paved roads with confidence. As well, the optional adaptive suspension will be able to raise and lower the vehicle by 50 mm, allowing it to handle rougher roads.

Silverado Electric: Generous Capacities

The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV is built for long-distance driving: it can travel up to 640 km on a single charge. What’s more, the continuous current plug will give it a 160 km range in just 10 minutes!

The following versions will have a slightly reduced autonomy, whose figures are not known yet. However, the 640 km battery will be available as an option for those who need it.

Towing capacity is certainly a key feature for most truck drivers. Consequently, the electric truck makes no concessions, giving you a maximum towing capacity of 10,000 lbs. Additionally, a new version coming in 2025 should be able to tow up to 20,000 lbs!

As for the load capacity, it amounts to 1,300 lbs with the standard body, measuring 5 feet 11. The latter also offers a number of conveniences, such as the Multi-Flex tailgate with 60/40 folding seats. This configuration allows you to open the tailgate and fold down the seats to carry items up to 10 feet in length.

You have smaller items to carry? Like many electric vehicles, the Chevy Silverado offers you a frunk, or what is commonly known as an under-hood cargo space.

Tomorrow’s Technology with Ultifi and Super Cruise

A new software will be introduced with this new Silverado electric: Ultifi. It’s a smart software but we still don’t have much details about yet, except that it will allow live updates, application downloads and brand-new features.

The WT and RST versions will come standard with an 11-inch center screen and an 8-inch digital instrument cluster. The very first edition strikes hard with a huge 17-inch center screen and 11-inch instrumentation. For intuitive use, the system integrates Google and its features:

  • Google Maps
  • Google Assistant
  • Google Play

Driver assistance technologies are increasing in the market, and semi-autonomous driving will be among the features available with the new Chevrolet. The Super Cruise technology recognizes 320,000 km of highways in Canada and the United States and allows you to drive hands-free!

A New Design

Inside and out, the new Chevrolet stands out from its predecessor. The LED light strip and illuminated emblem are noticeable in the revealed photos. Opening the doors, it’s just as striking:

We were able to get a peek inside the loaded RST model and were impressed with what we saw.”

Drew Dorian, Car and Driver

Among the included features:

  • A glass roof
  • Black and white leather trim
  • Spacious interior
  • An even larger center console
