GM announces Canadian pricing on Chevrolet Volt
While gas prices are joyfully continuing their uphill climb and getting dangerously close to 2008’s record, GM has announced that consumers can start ordering their 2012 Volt as of today. Though the base price is set at $41,545, residents of Québec and Ontario can benefit from $8,500 and $8,000 rebates, respectively, which will considerably lessen the impact on their wallets.
The car will initially be coming to Vancouver, Victoria, Toronto, Oshawa, Ottawa-Gatineau, Montréal and Québec at the end of the summer.
The Volt features an electric engine powered by a lithium-ion battery (eight-year or 160,000-km warranty) that allows a range of 40 to 80 km. It teams up with a 1.4-litre gas engine that can travel 500 km on a single tank and recharges the battery.
It includes a 7-inch LED screen displaying relevant vehicle information, which also acts as the interface for the My Link and HVAC systems.
Two options packages will be available. The first will add high-end trim components while the second will tag on a rear-view camera and parking radar.
